Nine workers can build a wall in four days. How many more workers are needed if the wall has to be finished in only three days?

  Take first the rate of each worker
then take the number of workers needed by substitution
9( \frac{1}{t} ) =  \frac{1}{4}  \\  \frac{9}{t}  =  \frac{1}{4}  \\ t = 36 \\ n( \frac{1}{36} ) =  \frac{1}{3}  \\ n =  \frac{36}{3}  \\ n = 12
therefore they need 12 workers for the work to be done in 3days
